Under the supervision of the Residency Program Coordinator, the Residency Program Assistant provides support in the administration, evaluation, and assessment of the Family Medicine Residency Program with specific responsibility for the Alberta International Medical Graduate (AIMG) program and assisting with the annual residency application process (CaRMS).


  • Acts as primary liaison with the provincial AIMG office
  • Manages inquiries and applications to the residency program from AIMG applicants
  • Coordinates recruitment interviews
  • Organizes AIMG externships with community physicians
  • Coordinates the AIMG candidate reporting process
  • Collects and disseminates rotation assessment and evaluation data; maintains One45 database
  • Maintains residents files ensuring programs requirements are met; monitors receipt of 4-month progress reports and prints for review
  • Communicates with family medicine teaching site administrators to manage and address ongoing issues
  • Provides administrative support to the Residency Program Committee (RPC)
  • Compiles CaRMS applications electronically for review
  • Provides backup for the other members of the Residency team


  • Minimum of a high school diploma; Post-secondary certificate in administration preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in administration, preferably in a post-secondary environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Well developed time management and problem solving skills
  • Able to produce accurate output with attention to details
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
