This casual position reports to the Supervisor of Cashier and Accounts Receivable; the Cashier & Accounting Assistant is responsible for processing transactions in the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions - Cashier module and PeopleSoft Financials - Accounts Receivable (AR) module.


  • Performs start of day processes in the PS Cashier System
  • Reviews all incoming cashier deposit sheets for accuracy prior to entry and follows up with units as required
  • Lists cheques, bundles bills, rolls loose coins
  • Prepares bank deposits and ensures that cash deposits and internal float is accurate and reconciles
  • Assists with main vault and coin security
  • Assists with daily cashier reports and processes in PeopleSoft Financials and Campus Solutions
  • Processes student cheque payments and disbursements (tuition, emergency loans and bursaries, Faculty Admission deposits, etc)
  • Completes disbursements of petty cash, honorariums, and other payouts
  • Enters GL information for departmental deposit sheets, Direct, E-select, POS and IVR deposits
  • Reconciles cashier entries and performs end of day processes in the PS Cashier System   
  • Processes Accounts Receivable cheques and wire transfers in People Soft Financial - AR
  • Provides back up and support in processing monthly journal vouchers
  • Provides back up and support in processing dishonored or returned cheque items
  • Other related cashier and banking duties as required


  • Minimum of a Accounting and/or Finance Diploma
  • 1 or 2 years of equivalent business experience
  • Computer applications (Word, Excel); PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (OASIS)
  • Knowledge in FOIPP legislation, Student Loan Program, Bank Deposit Procedures and Cashier Systems
