As a member of the Advancement team, the Development Coordinator will work closely with the Development staff within the Alberta School of Business to build on existing, and to assist in the creation of new, strategic partnerships with donors, faculty, alumni of the University, and the broader community.

  • Prepares briefing notes, including analyzing research, drafting notes for review, developing plans for approach of prospects, and preparing subsequent updates based on outcome of meetings
  • Writes donor/prospect solicitation materials and correspondence
  • Assists in the coordination of fundraising efforts by providing research and administration/communication and scheduling support
  • Assists in the stewarding of donors and activities involved in small gifts as well as annual giving and identified fundraising projects/priority initiatives for the Faculty
  • Serves as liaison with faculty, staff and volunteers to support deliverables in various development initiatives
  • Ensures processing of donor gifts, pledges and receipts
  • Ensures that appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgement and stewardship programs are in place
  • Participates in on-going fundraising planning, practice and process development
  • Ensures accuracy of  donor contact activity on donor and alumni database
  • Enters contact notes on behalf of Development team members for specific individuals in donor and alumni database
  • Supports and assists the Development team in identifying the Alberta School of Business’ donor community and donor giving patterns
  • Develops unit analytical reports as requested by manager


  • The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered; minimum High School Diploma
  • 1 or more years of general fundraising experience in a large non-profit or educational institution
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational and time-management skills while working independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to produce polished written communications in a business context
  • High degree of competency in MS office along with experience working with complex CRM database systems
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team in a fast-paced, high volume and professional environment managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent problem solving ability with sound judgement and discretion
  • Knowledge of University of Alberta systems, policies and procedures is an asset
