The Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta, in partnership with Alberta Health Services – Cancer Control Alberta (AHS), Cross Cancer Institute (CCI), invite applications for the position of Clinician-Scientist or Clinician-Investigator with expertise in PET imaging and MRI to take a leadership role in the operation of a new PET-MR scanner recently installed at the Cross Cancer Institute.  Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty is internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The CCI is a free-standing, integrated, cancer treatment and research facility that functions as the tertiary oncology referral centre for Northern Alberta. Alberta Health Services is Canada’s largest and only provincial health region, providing services for a population of over 4 million people.

The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Diagnostic Radiology and/or Nuclear Medicine, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and have expertise in PET and MRI. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated track record of academic performance with peer-reviewed publications in any aspect of PET or MRI.  The successful candidate will have a tenure-track academic appointment in the Department of Oncology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta, at a rank that will be based on years of experience.  The successful candidate will be expected to conduct innovative independent research and to act as a collaborator/advisor to the many clinical groups who are interested in using the PET/MRI scanner as a research tool.  The starting income will be commensurate with the level of training and experience, but will be above the median specialist income for Alberta.

Edmonton (www.edmonton.ca) is a vibrant Western Canadian city of over one million people with an excellent public school system and a full slate of sports, arts, music, restaurants, and numerous parks to enjoy the outdoors, many along the North Saskatchewan River. Jasper and Banff National Parks in the beautiful Rocky Mountains are a 3-4 hour drive away.
