Human Resource Services is looking for a highly motivated, client focused HR professional to fill a newly created Talent Acquisition Consultant role. As an experienced professional, you will help facilitate the transformation from tactical recruitment to the delivery of talent acquisition (TA) by becoming a strategic partner to our clients. The Manager, Talent Acquisition is specifically seeking a high performing individual who understands the labour market, can be flexible and agile while driving results.  “We are here to serve our clients and ensure they have the knowledge, skill set, and tools to secure high calibre talent in the competitive global space.”

Your efforts will be focused on growing the employer brand and leveraging social media savviness to help build the university’s profile, developing talent acquisition processes and best practices, educating on recruitment and working with client groups to establish recruitment frameworks.  In exchange, you will be afforded the opportunity to build deep, fulfilling relationships with clients and work for an employer who supports career progression and personal growth.

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, you will:

  • Contribute and support the university's employer branding strategy.  You will undertake the role of a U of A employer brand ambassador to recruit and attract desired talent by building the university’s staff recruitment social media presence, attending talent acquisition events, establishing talent pipelines, strategizing with university clients to source for their hard to recruit positions, and by building/maintaining a variety of stakeholder relationships.
  • Develop and deliver TA knowledge transfer sessions which will enhance institutional performance and create opportunities for community outreach.  You will contribute to TA strategies to enhance institutional knowledge while mitigating risk, identify gaps and opportunities, build business cases for projects and deliver on them, as well as work individually and/or with other HR subject matter experts on developing workshops and other effective programs for campus and the greater community.
  • Develop and deliver TA tools to achieve university-wide consistency and offer meaningful services.  You will re-engineer talent acquisition processes and ensure compliance within our unionized and non-unionized environments (from strategic intake to onboarding), develop and maintain meaningful communication for multiple audiences (internal, external and web), develop forms and templates to ensure consistency, manage recruitment systems and look to streamline processes, as well as identify opportunities to enhance current services and lead our unit with program/service adoption and/or expansion.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources with 5+ years of experience in a Talent Acquisition or a Recruitment Consulting role within a large organization; consideration will be given to candidates with related post-secondary education and 5 to 7 years of directly related experience; familiarity with post-secondary/academic environments is desired.
  • Advanced knowledge of social media platforms and other online/non-traditional avenues to brand, attract and interface with candidates; LinkedIn Certified Professional - Recruiter and/or effective boolean search skills preferred.
  • Experience contributing to and/or executing organizational strategies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of creating equitable, diverse and inclusive practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and delivering TA education sessions and materials.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and commitment to ongoing professional development in talent acquisition.
  • Strong business acumen to confidently work with multiple stakeholders; ability to coach and take a consultative approach to effectively interact with clients; ability to build strong professional relationships; ability to work with varying levels within an organization.
  • Adaptable, agile and technologically savvy; advanced capability with MS Office products, Gmail and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to strategize and develop creative and efficient solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment and manage projects.
  • Understanding of collective agreement and employment handbook provisions, company policies to ensure compliance.
  • Knowledge of the U of A’s policies, procedures, collective agreements is an asset.

Human Resources Services has 110 staff and works in partnership with human resource units across the institution, serving approximately 15,000 faculty, staff, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
