The University of Alberta Libraries, with a long tradition of service excellence to the University and its communities, seeks a dynamic and service-oriented professional for a full-time tenure-track Librarian position. The successful candidate will work within a team-based service model to provide high quality services. The successful candidate will contribute to research support services for systematic reviews and other types of evidence based research. 

The University of Alberta Libraries is Canada's second largest research library, with a collection exceeding seven million titles and ten million volumes. The Libraries has a unique relationship with the broader community through NEOS, a central Alberta consortium consisting of 18 government, hospital, college and university libraries and through The Alberta Library. The University of Alberta is also a partner with the University of Calgary in the Health Knowledge Network (HKN), a consortium that delivers quality health information resources to practitioners, researchers, policymakers and post-secondary institutions. 

Candidate requirements:

  • Masters in Library Science degree from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent

  • Previous experience providing support for systematic reviews and evidence summaries

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the process of creating systematic reviews and other evidence summaries, highly advanced expert searching skills, and the knowledge of research methodologies, particularly with Cochrane Systematic Reviews.

  • Strong understanding of the principles of evidence-based practice, and the ability to develop and teach systematic review workshops

  • Positive attitude; ability to work in a complex and changing environment

  • Previous experience with teaching and instruction; ability to promote library services

  • Strong service orientation, excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, to work independently and collaboratively

  • Knowledge of research impact measures, scholarly publishing and research data management services

  • Awareness of current issues,  developments, and new technologies in academic libraries

  • Interest in conducting research and evaluation of services

This is a tenure-track appointment is classified at the Librarian 1 level with a current annual salary range of $ 62,231 - $124,387. Librarians at the University of Alberta have academic status and participate in a comprehensive benefits program found at Faculty & Staff Benefits.
