The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applicants to apply for a contingent tenure track position of Assistant Professor with a primary appointment to the Division of Pediatric Neurology in the Department of Pediatrics and Edmonton Zone Section of Pediatric Neurology.

The required position is for a 1.0 FTE Pediatric Neurologist with additional experience in acute care neurology and pediatric rehabilitation. The position will be a 30% clinical commitment to Stollery Children’s Hospital to improve coverage of the inpatient neurocritical care consultation services, neurology admissions and another 30% to support consultations in general pediatric neurology at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. Expertise in pediatric stroke is preferred. Training and certification in electroencephalogram interpretation are required.

This position will be comprised of 60% clinical service (as described above) and 40% academic pursuits in teaching and research. Research can be in any area within pediatric neurology. Contributions to education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is expected from all faculty. Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of the Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP).

The successful applicant will join academic pediatric neurologists, developmental pediatricians, and pediatric physiatrists in providing a full spectrum of clinical services. In addition to clinical care, the Division is active in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has a fully accredited Pediatric Neurology subspecialty training program through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. We have an active basic and clinical science program, collaborating locally, nationally and internationally.

The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).

The Glenrose provides specialized programs and inpatient and outpatient pediatric services for children and youth with rehabilitation and complex care needs. As a fully accredited academic teaching hospital, the Glenrose participates in educational training programs for health sciences professionals and offers a range of research and technology development opportunities.
