Working for the Department/Faculty
The Food Service Department at Augustana provides all meals for students living in on-campus housing as well as walk-in customers, retail site and catering. The Assistant Supervisor/Head Chef is responsible for preparing healthy, well-balanced meals that meet client’s needs and expectations.
Position
The Assistant Supervisor/Head Chef's responsibility is to provide leadership and direction in the operation of a high quality food services program that meets the needs of students living on campus through the Dining Hall. They will be working with a complement of 20 staff members to provide a full range of daily meals, meeting special diet requirements, training and developing staff skills and offering a high level of customer service. Must be able to embrace culinary diversity and be open to adaptation.
Duties
- Ensuring customers receive high quality, nutritious meals
- Day to day operations of food services department
- Scheduling staff
Minimum Qualifications
- Red Seal Journeyman Cook
- Food Safety Certificate
- Minimum 1 year supervisory experience
- Ability to adapt cooking for varying size groups
- Effective Communication and coaching skills

- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Ability to accurately appraise situations and make decisions
- Deal effectively and cooperatively with others
- Ability to establish and maintain a harmonious working environment
