GlycoNet is a one-stop global destination focused on developing new carbohydrate-based drugs, vaccines and diagnostics, in collaboration with academic and industry organizations to address areas of unmet need through applied glycomics research. This national platform supports translational research, protection of intellectual property, novel drug development, company formation and training of a new generation of glyco-scientists and entrepreneurs. The network includes over 170 researchers across Canada who focus on cancer, chronic diseases, infectious diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Reporting to the GlycoNet Chief Executive Officer and with input from the Training Committee (TC) the Research Management Committee (RMC) and the Scientific Director, the Training and Project Management Coordinator develops, implements, executes, monitors and evaluates training initiatives for both Network students and staff; seeks out additional funding, opportunities and partners to support the training mission of the Network; coordinates research grant competitions, gathers funded project reports and outcomes, populates the project database and helps prepare reports to the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), RMC, Board of Directors, and to the NCE.


Training Coordination

  • Supports and implements the overall training strategy of the Network to fully understand the training needs of Network researchers, find industry opportunities and identify suitable funding programs to leverage the research opportunities uncovered
  • Develops, executes and evaluates KTEE workshops such as IP protection, technology transfer, entrepreneurship
  • Develops appropriate research ethics protocols required for collection and analysis of participant feedback information
  • Maintains efficient and accurate documentation of activities, policies and processes, and results of each of the Network initiatives
  • Prepares semi-annual reports and statistical information
  • Creates and maintains a network of partners/clients in industry
  • Aids in the planning of the annual general meeting and conference

 Project Management Coordination

  • Supports the coordination of research project applications and is the main point of contact for grant competitions
  • Updates project management tool (Forum) on a regular basis
  • Evaluates and optimizes reporting template and tools (Forum) to fit reporting needs for SAB, RMC and NCE; Helps prepare reports to SAB, RMC and NCE
  • Develops project related policies as request by CEO or Scientific Director
  • Identifies success stories and awards, and works closely with the Communication Associate to promote them
  • Reminds Network Investigators of the Network budget reallocation and no cost extension policy, project deadlines and student or travel award opportunities


  • Post-Secondary diploma in Science required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Glycomics research experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to effectively interact with individuals from a variety of diverse cultures
  • Excellent written/oral communications, research, proofreading and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance in addition to working well as part of a team in a tight-knit environment
  • Strong time management with the ability to prioritize and work well under pressure with tight deadlines, exercising tact and diplomacy in high stress situations
  • Strong ability to analyze data and qualitative information, anticipate challenges, and understand implications of decisions
  • Quick learner, and willingness to learn
  • Superior accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, with an emphasis on analysis using Excel
  • Experience in project and/or program management is an asset
  • Bilingual in oral and written English and French is preferred
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license preferred
