For this cohort hire, the University of Alberta seeks qualified individuals who self-identify as persons of Black African or Black Caribbean descent and lived experience. 

The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation (KSR) is consistently ranked in the top 10 faculties of its type worldwide (QS World University Rankings). It is home to approximately 1000 undergraduate students and 120 graduate students. In addition to its 5 undergraduate degree programs, KSR also offers Masters degrees, a suite of graduate certificates, and a world class PhD program.

KSR is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor from any social sciences and humanities disciplinary area, whose work focuses on sport, recreation, leisure, tourism, physical activity, dance, or any related area. 

A PhD or equivalent doctorate degree is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed productive postdoctoral training or other postgraduate work experience. The successful candidate will bring a record of achievement commensurate with appointment at an Assistant Professor level. This should include a record of publication in quality peer reviewed journals as well as demonstrated potential to secure Tri-Council research funding. The successful candidate will be expected to make a contribution to high quality undergraduate and graduate teaching and research. The successful candidate will also possess the ability to work and communicate effectively across disciplines and with external communities.
