The Campus is located on Treaty Six territory which provided a traveling route and home to the Cree, Blackfoot, and Metis, as it did for the Nakoda, Tsuu T’ina and Chipewyan, and other Indigenous peoples. Their spiritual and practical relationships to the land create a rich heritage and ongoing model for our learning and our life as a community.
The Faculty is committed to building on its reputation for academic rigour, high-quality teaching in the tradition of the liberal arts and sciences, and extensive opportunities for students in the areas of community service-learning, undergraduate research and place-based learning. Augustana offers a distinctive undergraduate experience characterized by an alternative academic calendar (“3-11”) and a common project-based core. Students benefit from the advantages of a small campus while earning a degree from one of Canada’s leading universities.
