Position Summary

Due to impending retirements, the Department of Family Medicine is pleased to announce opportunities to join our team and contribute to the formation of the next generation of family physicians. We are seeking three practicing family physicians for full-time, tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, within the College of Health Sciences, at the University of Alberta, located in Edmonton, Alberta on Treaty Six territory, is one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The Faculty is internationally recognized as among the world’s elite medical schools. Candidates must have obtained the College of Family Physicians of Canada Certification in Family Medicine or equivalent and must be eligible to work in Canada. The successful candidates will join a growing complement of academic family physicians who, in addition to their scholarly and research activities, provide classroom and office-based teaching that models interdisciplinary, medical-home team practice. An advanced degree awarded or in progress is preferred.

We welcome applicants from urban or rural communities and also have clinical practice locations available at our department teaching clinics in Edmonton. Successful candidates will assume leadership positions contributing to one or more of the following areas:

  • Faculty Development
  • Resident Support

  • Urban Rotations

These positions are contingent, tenure-track appointments, reporting to the Department Chair and thence to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Salary for each position will be commensurate with education, experience and academic productivity.
