Working for the Department/Faculty Summary

Department of Biochemistry. Protein bioconjugate research for the the development of novel applications of targeted protein degradation or protein detection and visualization for applications in biological and health related research. Specific research includes the development of both novel protein binding ligands and linker conjugates for biological applications. The research team consists of an industry partner and institute team members with expertise including molecular modeling, chemical design and biological based assays.

Position Summary

Postdoctoral Fellow researcher with expertise in the design of synthetic strategies and their application for the chemical synthesis of novel protein targeting molecules and their derivatives. The individual will work within a team with experience in molecular modeling and design, along will members with experience in both biochemical and cell based assays. Within this team, the post doc will be involved in the chemical synthesis of novel bioconjugates, along with their full chemical characterization. Synthesized compounds will then be assayed by a variety of biochemical and cell based assays. Two specific aims of the teams research are on protein detection methods and targeted protein degradation technology.

Duties

  • Design of synthetic routes for novel compound synthesis
  • Chemical synthesis of organic compounds
  • Chemical characterization of compounds by NMR and MS
  • Biological investigation on novel compounds
  • Manuscript drafting and writing

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry. Ideally with experience in a range of chemical synthesis techniques, purification methods and analytical analysis
  • Demonstrate competence in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Chemical synthesis and purification

  • HPLC purification methods
