The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta, invites applications for the position of Associate Dean Research, Clinical Research Platforms and Health Outcomes.

The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta is one of the world’s elite Schools, and the appointment of the Associate Dean Research, Clinical Research Platforms and Health Outcomes is one of the faculty’s key positions. The Associate Dean Research, Clinical Research Platforms and Health Outcomes will be primarily responsible for the development, support and enhancement of clinical research platforms within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. The Faculty possesses significant strengths in health outcomes research and the use of real world evidence to inform decisions, generate hypotheses, improve health services, and ultimately to improve health outcomes. The opportunity in Alberta for the use of health data in research is advancing with improved data access through the Strategy for Patient Oriented Research (SPOR) Data Platform and the implementation of a province-wide clinical information system (Connect Care).

Leadership and coordination from the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is critical to ensure these evolving opportunities are maximized, with the development of collaborative relationships with the Alberta SPOR data and learning health system platforms, Strategic Clinical Networks within Alberta Health Services, the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute, and other relevant research partners within the university and in the wider community.

This posting is directed to current Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry full-time faculty members in a relevant department. The appointment will be at the successful candidate's existing faculty rank. The successful candidate will have a track record in clinical and/or health outcomes research. This appointment will be made for a three-year term, renewable upon mutual agreement.
