The Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta, invites applications for a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty position in Accounting. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024.

For an appointment at the assistant professor level, candidates must have, or be close to completing, a PhD in an Accounting field, with demonstrated potential to publish top-level research and achieve teaching excellence; appointment in the latter case will be contingent upon the completion of the PhD by an agreed-upon date. Appointments at a more senior level (Associate or Full Professor) may be considered depending on qualifications and experience. For an associate/full professor appointment, we require a reputation for making high quality contributions to top accounting journals and evidence of teaching excellence.

Candidates must possess an excellent record or potential for publication in top journals in Accounting, a CPA certificate or general managerial experience empirical capability to do Archival or Behavioral research, and evidence of teaching excellence. Consideration will be given to candidates who have demonstrated the impact of their research, who provide evidence of established teaching skills, and who have a demonstrated record of service at the departmental, institutional, national, and/or international levels. Candidates must have a proven track record of (or interest in) institution building and service in addition to exceptional scholarship in Accounting. Proficiency in English is required.

Responsibilities include teaching accounting courses in undergraduate and graduate programs, conducting and publishing research in top tier accounting journals, and service to the School’s academic activities. The Alberta School of Business has an energetic PhD program and the successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in its continuing success and development.
