The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS)/Stollery Children’s Hospital invites applicants to apply for a position of Assistant Clinical Professor, Adolescent Medicine, within the Division of General & Community Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics.

The adolescent medicine service provides important services within the Stollery Children’s Hospital and AHS Edmonton Zone. The Stollery Children’s Hospital is the regional referral centre for Northern Alberta, and the Northwest Territories. The adolescent medicine position will provide service to adolescents with complex health and social issues. This position will be well supported by experienced academic general pediatric colleagues, both ambulatory and in-hospital based. The Stollery Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics already have well established programs for adolescents and transition within subspecialty programs that can provide support.

The successful applicant will join an academic general & community pediatric service providing a full spectrum of clinical services. In addition to clinical care, the division is active in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and has fully accredited Pediatric and subspecialty pediatrics training programs through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. We have an active basic and clinical science program, collaborating locally, nationally and internationally.  As we build our team, the Department of Pediatrics recognizes that our people are and will continue to be our greatest strength.  We celebrate creativity, diversity, perseverance, and a collaborative spirit. 

This position will be comprised of approximately 60% clinical service and 40% academic pursuits: either teaching and/or research. Research can be in any area within Pediatric Adolescent Medicine. Contributions to education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels are expected from all faculty.

Interested applicants must hold an MD and must have completed a subspecialty residency in Pediatric Adolescent Medicine, and be certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Pediatric Adolescent Medicine Subspecialty). Successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). Advanced training or experience in clinical research would be an asset.

Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of a competitive and highly successful academic alternate funding plan.
