The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Medicine in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a Clinical Academic Physician in Interventional Pulmonary Medicine to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital and at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.  Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.  The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff. 

The Division of Pulmonary Medicine provides a wide range of quaternary and tertiary clinical services in Pulmonary Medicine and Allergy, and is home to the second largest lung transplant program in Canada averaging 60-80 transplants annually. The Division has a long-standing history of excellence and international reputation in clinical and research activities on airways disease.

The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Pulmonary Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, will have completed a fellowship in Interventional Pulmonary Medicine and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). A CV demonstrating a proven academic track record in interventional pulmonary medicine is a strong asset for this competition.

Key accountabilities of the Clinical Academic Physician in Interventional Pulmonary Medicine will include, but will not be limited to the chest clinic and bronchoscopy activities within the Interventional Pulmonary Medicine group at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and at the University of Alberta Hospital. The successful candidate is expected to be part of the inpatient and consult service at the UAH. The successful candidate may have an important role in establishing new endoscopic techniques and a fellowship in Interventional Pulmonary Medicine at the University of Alberta.

The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, with the rank of Clinical Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.  

Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic medicine & Health Services Program (AMHSP). Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
