The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Medicine in partnership with Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health, invites applications for an academic physician in Allergy and Clinical Immunology to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff. 

The Division of Pulmonary Medicine provides a wide range of quaternary and tertiary clinical services in Pulmonary Medicine and Allergy, and is home to the second largest lung transplant program in Canada averaging 60-80 transplants annually. The Division has a long-standing history of excellence and international reputation in clinical and research activities on airways disease.

Divisional members are active in the international research community in most fields of Pulmonary Medicine (https://www.ualberta.ca/department-of-medicine/divisions/pulmonary-medicine/publications).

The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Allergy with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and demonstrate a proven academic track record in allergy and asthma. 

Individuals interested in the education of trainees and a strong interest in research are encouraged to apply.

Key accountabilities of the successful candidate will include, but will not be limited to a significant ambulatory presence within the Divisional clinics (allergy and asthma) and within the clinics in clinical immunology (KEC). The successful candidate is expected to be part of the allergy consult service established last year at the UAH. The successful candidate will have a significant leadership role in establishing educational activities, and, ideally, a training program in allergy and clinical immunology at the University of Alberta.

The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, with the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic medicine & Health Services Program (AMHSP). Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
