POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN NEUROIMAGING AND GAIT ANALYSIS

The Department of Medicine (Division of Neurology) and Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alberta have positions for a postdoctoral fellow. The postdoctoral fellow, co-supervised by members of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, depending on specific project, at the Peter S Allen MR Research Centre (Drs. Christian Beaulieu, director; Alan Wilman and Nikolai Malykhin) will be involved in MRI image analysis using quantitative methods. Currently scans are being collected as part of the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration of Aging (CCNA) and the Functional Assessment of Vascular Reactivity cohorts (FAVR). Local imaging projects include the application of structural, diffusion tensor and quantitative susceptibility mapping to neurodegenerative and vascular disorders. The fellow would need to be able to analyze scanning data using existing methods and to develop novel methods for analysis. A key task will be to write papers suitable for submission for publication, therefore a strong record of publications is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Additional duties will include training and assisting with supervision of graduate students. A PhD, MD/PhD or MD with postdoctoral research training is required.

The minimum starting stipend for this position is $40,000 per annum, and will be commensurate with the experience of the successful candidate. This position is available immediately and the appointment is for one year with possibility for extension dependent on funding.
