This position is from August 27, 2018 - April 26, 2019.

Reporting directly to the Student Recruitment & Engagement Officer, the Faculty of Arts Student Recruiter is responsible for the dissemination of information about the Faculty of Arts to Canadian high school students, their parents and counselors.

Please note: The hours of work for this position will be varied including a requirement to work evenings and weekends.  This position has the potential to travel.

Duties

  • Travels to targeted select high schools, colleges and special events representing the Faculty of Arts
  • Responds to prospective student inquiries through phone, e-mail and chat rooms
  • Provides on-campus advising sessions for prospective students and parents
  • Promotes the Faculty of Arts at various recruitment events including public speaking
  • Liaises with the Arts student group OASIS and the Arts Cohort Leadership Floor
  • Attends special events including U of A Open House, Early Admission Workshops, information evenings, counselor workshops, Brain Break, etc.
  • Assists the Student Recruitment & Engagement Coordinators when needed
  • Creates content (stories, photos, videos) for our student services blog and social media channels
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Current Faculty of Arts student (AWE student is preferred but not mandatory) or recent grad
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Comfortable with presenting to large groups
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management and customer service skills
  • Must be able to maintain high levels of professionalism
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of University of Alberta policies and procedures an asset
  • Valid driver's license (clean driver's abstract will be required)
  • Ability to lift small to medium loads (boxes of Viewbooks)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media
