The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a half-time Academic Teaching Staff position for a 2-year term appointment beginning September 1, 2018.

Reporting to the Chair in the Department of Chemistry, the position will be responsible for teaching the Introductory University Chemistry courses  (CHEM 101, 102, 103, 105) and the Introductory Organic Chemistry courses (CHEM 261, 263). Expectations are that the appointee would teach at least three sections per year during the fall and winter terms and possibly during spring term. As a part of their teaching responsibilities, the appointee would be expected to remain abreast of current developments in science and in pedagogy, particularly as they relate to instruction in chemistry. Additional responsibilities for this position may include:

  • working in conjunction with the Introductory Chemistry course and laboratory coordinators, to support administration of the Introductory University Chemistry course
  • supporting teaching initiatives in the department by working on curriculum development and introduction of new instructional technologies and methods of delivery
  • supporting or initiating departmental outreach activities independently or by working with the Faculty of Science and members of the community

This appointment requires a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry and successful teaching experience.  If you are interested in being considered for this position, provide a curriculum vitae and a cover letter outlining your teaching experience any relevant experience as it relates to the responsibilities listed above . Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff Agreement (ATS).
