Guiding students through the processes of recruitment, registration, and on through to convocation, the RO is the first and consistent point of contact for students during the course of their studies. As “the face of the University", the RO is a key contributor to the overall student experience.

Reporting to the Deputy Registrar, the Assistant Registrar, Student Recruitment and Engagement is a critical member of the RO leadership team. This position provides leadership in the design and delivery of services for the both the Volunteer Management and Partnerships unit, and the National Recruitment unit, along with senior level support to RO and institutional leadership on matters relating to student leadership and national recruitment and their impact on institutional/faculty specific enrolment management. In addition, the Assistant Registrar provides leadership of national recruitment collaboration across all campuses through the University of Alberta Recruitment Network.

Working closely with internal and external partners, the Assistant Registrar ensures institutional enrolment goals are supported by effective and targeted undergraduate recruitment within Canada. Through effective use of data analysis and reporting, the incumbent will support the multi-year strategic action plans and budgets for national recruitment, measuring against key performance indicators. In addition, the Assistant Registrar will determine core business needs in the development of technological and communication solutions for effective undergraduate student recruitment.

This position also oversees the management and support of student leadership development programs within the RO, such as the UAlberta Ambassador and Campus Visit Programs. These programs provide opportunities for prospective students, parents, alumni and the general public to explore the university campuses during student-led tours, as well as during UAlberta’s annual Open House event.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, with a Master's preferred
  • Dynamic and experienced leader who possesses a solid understanding of enrolment management
  • Highly developed skills and familiarity with student recruitment and retention, student leadership development, student service and marketing principles, as well as demonstrated experience in team building and management
  • Ability to operate within a complex and highly decentralized work environment and to act decisively, exercising initiative and strong judgement on a wide range of issues
  • Superior communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Adept at stakeholder management
  • Knowledge of the University of Alberta’s policies, procedures, and operations is an asset
  • Familiarity with secondary and post-secondary education systems throughout Canada is an asset
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is an asset

In accordance with the Temporary Administrative and Professional Staff Agreement, this position offers a comprehensive benefit package found at Faculty & Staff Benefits and an annual salary range of $65,906 to $109,772.
