The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences invites applications for sessional instructorships for the 2017-18 academic year. Currently, courses for which sessionals may be required to teach all or part of includes the following list. Other courses may be available as conditions change: 

  • HGP 250 Natural Resources and Environmental Management - Fall 2017 
  • HGP 382 Topics in Regional Geography - Fall 2017 or Winter 2018 (to be scheduled) 
  • HGP 443 Environment and Health - Fall 2017

This list is subject to change until positions are filled.  Additional information about the courses may be found in the 2017-18 University of Alberta Calendar, and on the Department's website at www.ualberta.ca/EAS

Successful candidates will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and successful teaching experience; however, candidates with a Master's degree and relevant teaching experience may also be considered. 

If you are interested in being considered for one or more of these positions, or for any other sessional opportunities that may arise, please provide a curriculum vitae and a covering letter outlining your teaching experience and indicating the course(s) and/or subject areas for which you would like to be considered. Please include the names of two references who are willing to give information on your teaching experience and abilities. Individuals who have recently provided this information or recently taught as a sessional instructor for the Department need only send an email indicating their interest in the upcoming positions. 

Positions will be filled as suitable candidates are identified. Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) Agreement.
