The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Medicine in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for an Interventional Pulmonologist to be based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.  The University is currently home to 39,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff. 

The Division of Pulmonary Medicine consists of a team of three PhD, Fourteen MD full-time academic faculty and five MD clinical members, offering a wide range of clinical programs in Pulmonary Medicine and Allergy.  Division members have dedicated asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease and pleural effusion clinics in addition to subspecialty services that include Tuberculosis, Adult Cystic Fibrosis, Sleep Disorders, Pulmonary Hypertension and Interventional Pulmonary Medicine.  Division members also care for one of the largest Lung Transplantation populations in Canada and offer the full range of clinical supports for advanced respiratory care (i.e. in-patient non-invasive mechanical ventilation and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). The Division has two full-time and one part time allergists and offers a wide array of Adult Allergy Services. The Division is affiliated with the Pulmonary Research Group and has PhD and MD members involved in various areas of research in lung and airway diseases.

The successful candidate will have an MD degree (or equivalent) with certification in Respirology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada.  As well, they will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and have at least one year of fellowship training in Interventional Pulmonary Medicine.

Key accountabilities of the Interventional Pulmonologist will include, but will not be limited to: clinical duties on the Interventional Pulmonary Medicine service at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the inpatient Pulmonary Medicine and Interventional Pulmonary Medicine service at the University of Alberta Hospital, involvement in the Pulmonary subspecialty training program, and a keen interest in clinical research in the area of Interventional Pulmonary Medicine.

The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Alternative Relationship Plan (A-ARP). Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
