The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services, is inviting applications for Academic Geriatricians to join the Division of Geriatric Medicine, Department of Medicine located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and is one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. Alberta Health Services is Canada’s largest and only provincial health region providing services for a population of over 3 million people.
The successful candidate will be dually accredited in General (Internal) Medicine and Geriatric Medicine with an MD or equivalent qualification and be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
The Division of Geriatric Medicine is seeking to expand its academic mission and the successful candidates will be offered a tenure-track or tenured appointment in the Department of Medicine. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing specialist geriatric medicine services to the City of Edmonton and its hinterland with an increasing focus on providing specialist services which are closer to home for older Albertans.
We are particularly interested in developing our research portfolio in the following areas: dementia, long-term care and managed care of older adults, knowledge translation, falls and osteoporosis. Appropriate research training and mentorship will be provided. Each physician will be expected to develop a research interest which is complementary to that within the Division. However, other relevant research interests will be accommodated.
